TAYLOR ESTATE- No longer offered

May rent the Cottage (formerly the Carriage House to the Manor) or the Manor or both...but reservations are treated and booked as completely separate reservations and Cottage availability is very limited.

Occupying adjacent lots, the former Carriage House to the Manor was renovated in 2001 using original "craftsman-style" technique and a second story was added making it a complete home in itself. Renamed, the Taylor Cottage, this roomy, 2 story detached home features its own private entrance off East Jones Lane while Taylor Manor fronts East Taylor Street. The rear courtyards of the two abutt the common driveway which essentially connects the two homes.

Don't just visit Savannah....Come LIVE IT! And experience true Southern Comfort and Style.

*Carriage House/Cottage only has handicap features including first floor bedroom and bath w/walk-in shower and hand-held showerhead and grab bars.

We are a group of 5 couples from various US locations that meet once a year in different cities. This year our reunion was held in Savannah and we stayed in the Taylor Estate. The Taylor Estate is a perfect location for exploring Savannah's historic district. During most of our visit, our cars remained parked and we could walk to most everything we wanted to do. The Taylor Estate was perfect for our group. 2 couples stayed in the cottage and 3 couples in the Manor House. We had most meals together in the Manor House as well as drinks on the patio most evenings. The Estate is well appointed, very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. Suzanne is very responsive to any questions or anything you may need. Highlights of our trip included early morning walks around the historic district, visiting various churches, a walking tour of the squares with "Savannah Dan", a night at the Savannah Theater, and a tour of Fort Pulaski. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time just being together in a lovely city and in a beautiful historic home.

My Girl Scout Junior Troop ranted both the Manor and the Carriage house for our trip in February. Properties were both beautiful and location was excellent. Fantastic trip! Thank you!!

Fantastic! We rented the Estate and Cottage for my daughter's graduation in December 2014. The house was exactly as pictured and advertised with great character yet very comfortable. The original plans called for 11 however in the end only 9 attended however their was plenty of room for at least 11. The location was fantastic with off street parking as well as the ability to easily walk for groceries. The downtown location was fantastic with a variety of inexpensive options to easily get around the city. The owners are extremely organized, friendly and accomodating. They have the did an exceptional job in preparing us for the visit by answering questions, through their pre visit e-mails as well their book upon arrival, which we would have never thought of. Thank you very much for all of your help and hospitality in making a event very special! With any luck we will be back in the future!

Our group of 15 girls and 4 adults stayed at the Taylor estate for 4 days. Renting this home made it possible for our group to completely enjoy our visit to Savannah. There was ample space for the girls to relax after a long day of seeing the sites. We were able to eat our meals at home (so to speak) which is more economical and convenient with a large group. We were able to walk to all areas of the historic district, saving time and expense for parking. The home itself could not be more beautiful. It is full of antiques and the decor makes one feel like they are stepping into your grandmother’s home with wall hangings, pictures and figurines everywhere. Each room has its own special characteristics. Our girls will remember this place and the trip for life. Suzanne is a wonderful lady and will provide for your smallest need. No need to search any further than this property for a place to stay during your visit to Savannah!

My extended family from Minnesota and Iowa stayed for 6 nights and my brother's family joined us from Atlanta (ages 10 to 70). The younger generation stayed in the manor and the seniors stayed in the carriage house. We all loved it here - just like home, only better. The beds were super comfortable and everything you could possibly need was furnished. It's great to have a washer and dryer after a day at the beach! We grilled outside one evening and usually had a light breakfast and coffee before heading out each day. Some places we all enjoyed: we had great meals at The Florence and Barracuda Bobs as well as Mrs. Wilkes. Angela from Savannah Heritage Tours picked us up in front of the manor and gave us a great tour of Bonaventure Cemetery. We all loved Magic Mike's Dolphin Tour on Tybee Island and our meals at North Beach Bar and Grill and Sundae Cafe. The Taylor Estate is located in a quiet neighborhood with off street parking which makes getting around easy - whether you stay within the historic district or travel the short distance to the beach at Tybee Island. We would love to visit and stay here again.

The Taylor Estate proved perfect in every way for our family gathering! A total of 17 of us enjoyed the manor and carriage house, including 12 adults and 5 children, ages 4 months to 9 years. The description of the house and cottage are very accurate but it is all much more charming than the photos. Suzanne has somehow managed to combine the ambience of an historic property with the most modern of comforts. The kitchens had all the utensils we would ever need and the courtyards with hottub, twinkle lights and grills were relished by all. The location is perfect – parks and playgrounds across the street one way and all of historic Savannah the other. We highly recommend the Taylor Estate to anyone with a trip to Savannah in their future!

We were in Savannah for a family wedding. The Taylor Manor fit 3 families (14 people) comfortably . The house was beautifully decorated . We instantly felt at home. The house location was perfect for our sightseeing excursions. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We chose the Taylor Estate as our home away from home for our daughter's wedding in Savannah. We rented both the manor and the carriage house which was perfect to have enough space for our family and the bridal party. We had an age range from 2 to 90 and did not need anything that was not available in the home. The estate is so beautiful that we took pre-wedding photos in the manor. Parking was not a problem with the off street parking and extra spaces in the front. Suzanne was helpful by recommending a local nail salon for those pre wedding manicures. We could not of had a better experience and the location is so convenient to downtown. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to Savannah.

I got together with several friends for a much needed getaway. Savannah Historic Hidaways Manor house was a perfect meeting place. The beautifully decorated manor was nice and clean and had everything we needed to make our stay there enjoyable. I would definately check into staying there again the next time we have a larger group gathering.

I brought my Girl Scout troop down AGAIN for a trip to Historic Savannah, we were first here in Aug 2010. We loved the Taylor Estate so much that we didn't even consider another option for lodging. Having the convenience of a real home with a kitchen and multiple bathrooms (very much needed for a bunch of little girls) made the trip all the more enjoyable! We love everything about the home - the price, the décor, the location (we walked everywhere), the owners! The Schulz family are amazing - addressed our every need, supplied the home with a map, brochures, suggestions, etc. Everything we needed was already provided without having to ask for anything. I will definitely be returning to Savannah in the future, whether with future girl scouts or my family, and will definitely be calling Mrs. Schulz again! Thank you so much for your hospitality and making your home available to visitors like us! Sincerely, Girl Scout Troop 1158 Smyrna, DE

We loved the Estate. It fit the 17 of us perfectly. We had all the room we needed and more. My favorite thing was to sit in your comfy chairs in the Courtyard and read during the mornings and evenings. And playing the boardgames at night was so much fun- you have a great selection. One member of our group is a Chef. He loved the kitchen in the Manor & that he was able to cook up two gourmet dinners for us without a problem. It not only saved money, but it gave us memories of mealtimes that you can't get from restaurants. This was my first time staying in a vacation rental home...and finding out these perks was eye-opening. I'll probably never want anything else but a vacation rental home again...as long as it's like the Taylor Estate! Definitely have your guests explore the boutiques at the end of Taylor St and the dozens of little antique stores tucked all around the streets by the Estate...they were such fun for us! We took our kids to Tybee Beach for one of our afternoons but they actually liked playing in the fountains/geysers at Forsyth Park, the playground across the street, and the fountains at the Square better. For me, I liked that we could walk to everything and then come home to squirrels and birds and a quiet but very lovely neighborhood and leave the hustle and bustle behind. Oh...and we all liked the ceiling fans in all the rooms. And central AC! If we return to Savannah, we will certainly check if your Estate is available. So very glad we found you! The Estate made our stay such a great time for all!

Long weekend extended family get-together.... I am a reluctant planner by nature, always afraid things won't work out and I'll be to blame, so when I decided to take the initiative and plan a big family celebration for my dad's 80th birthday, I was plenty worried about trusting that this place was as good as advertised, but it turned out so much better than I expected or even hoped. The Estate was just exactly what my family reunion needed - plus! We had a large group coming from different places - the reservation was for 16, but we ended up with a group of 13 including a baby - people who never get to see enough of each other but also need some space and privacy. I had feared we'd either be too crowded or feel separated but it worked out so well, with several large areas to congregate indoors and out, private bedrooms as well as a couple of open loft-type bedrooms, lots of queen size beds, a few singles, and enough bathrooms. I was so pleased and surprised that it really worked out for everyone, no complaints. The location is indeed an easy walk to almost everything we wanted to see in the historic district. We walked and saw the sights together, cooked and ate most meals together, split off for some, and ate out as a group too. We did a 1500-piece jigsaw puzzle we brought with us while we just hung out together. Some of us soaked in the hot tub and took time to watch a favorite TV show (Downton Abbey) together, and everybody had room to be off by themselves when they needed it. As is the rest of the estate, the 2 kitchens are well-equipped, a grocery store nearby, shops and restaurants and bars all walking distance. Nobody in our group made use of a pedi-cab or a bus and we barely used our cars, though all of those were at our disposal - the weather and the walking were wonderful. Even though we packed plenty into the time we had, the trip was so relaxed. Everybody, from 4 months to 80 years old, was able to feel right at home - as if we were in one of our own homes but better. This was my first chance to spend more than just a few hours in Savannah and I loved it. My interactions with the estate's friendly owner were all just great. This experience has given me confidence that even I can plan a trip. I thought it turned out perfectly. The only ones with anything to regret are the 3 who were planning to be there but couldn't make it. Poor them, they really missed out!

What a terrific respite this has been for the 12 "girls" from the class of 64 celebrating this year of our 60th birthdays. Superb bedding! So comfy and lucious! Great Kitchen and easy to find supplies. Loved the warmth of your decor and the beauty of it all. We found ourselves close to everything downtown and enjoyed not having to drive. And of course, we relished having such a large space to relax and get to know each other all over again. Blessings and continued success!

Rock n Roll Marathoners...this Estate ROCKED! Thank you so much for allowing us crazy group of marathon runners to occupy the house. The house was AWESOME and the home was everything we could have imagined and more for historic Savannah. The Hot Tub felt AMAZING after the run! Will definitely keep you all in mind when we come back to Savannah to run again (or maybe relax) :) Thanks again!

    Owner Response

Soooo glad to hear you loved the Hot Tub! We just recently installed it late in 2011 and so are still getting feedback. I am figuring in the heat of summer, it might be nice just to "submerge" without even turning up the heat! lol ....at least, during the daytime hours! ;)

We had the pleasure of using Taylor Estates (both the Manor House and the Carriage House) while our extended family and friends gathered in Savannah Oct. 9th – 14th for our son’s wedding. We found the estate to be a perfect “home base” for our stay; ideally suited for both wedding-related and touristy activities. We enjoyed everything the estate had to offer, from the well-appointed furnishings in both houses to the courtyards and hot tub. The owners have gone to great lengths to make sure their guests are able to be comfortable and relaxed in the two houses, with detailed instructions for guests and great maps to local attractions and dining options. The estate is located on a charming side street that is within walking distance to Savannah’s historic district and to Forsythe Park. The off-street parking was also a much-appreciated amenity. Our son’s wedding in the picturesque beauty of Savannah was a memorable family experience, and staying at Taylor Estates helped make it so. We would absolutely stay there again, and would recommend the estate (or either of its two “homes”) to anyone looking for a recommendation for a place to stay in Savannah if they wanted a vacation home rental experience. We “tip our hats” to Mike and Suzanne for their embodiment of gracious Southern hospitality!

This home truly is a treasure in the heart of Savannah! Our group of 17 ladies really enjoyed our mini-getaway in the Taylor Estate. What a great location and on top of that, there were plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces to accomodate everyone! We had a large group of pedi-cabs pick us up at our doorstep for dinner downtown on Saturday night. This was such a wonderful way to experience the city; much more preferable than a regular cab ride! Overall, we had such an amazing time and will surely be back as soon as possible! Thanks for everything!

Our stay at Taylor Estate for a family reunion was just right. We rented both the ‘big house’ and the ‘little house.’ Convenient to everything in the historic district(s) by walking, by bus … and by car though probably not to be recommended depending on downtown/waterfront events – we had a family dinner at the Olde Pink House (excellent), drove in 4 cars and every one was able to park in garage next door. About 1/3 of our group, young’uns walked home vs driving. Several fond memories of the 542 Taylor neighborhood: 1) easy walk to generous, reasonably priced, breakfast at Clary’s; opportunity to catch up over cups of coffee; afterward walking breakfast off while looking at enchanting architecture around the neighborhood … Forsyth Square, not that far. Nor Mercer/Williams house (for the Midnight in Garden of Good & Evil aficionado). 2) Of an early evening, several of us taking a walk around the block(s), wine glasses in hand, and being yoo-hooed by neighbors sitting on their porches to stop & sit & chat for a spell. You must, must visit Bonaventure Cemetery (Midnight GG&E). When you google it, it is in Thunderbolt – isn’t that a great name – vs Savannah. (2.8 miles from 542 Taylor.) First-timers must, must commence by taking a tour to give you an overview. How good the tour is depends on the driver. On 1st round of a trolley tour we had a driver who seemed to read from a script; 2nd round – with on/off tix can use all day – a jolly good fellow. Part of our group took a horse carriage and learned a h*ll of lot more than we bus tours did. Interview your driver? Back to Taylor Estate: full kitchen, each house. BBQ facility, hot tub, small sit-out patio, parking for 4 cars in back lane. Location, location, location.

    Owner Response:

What wonderful suggestions! Our Guests are always delighted that the Trolley Tour Companies will pick them up at the doorstep of our Vacation Home Renta! And...Complimentary "Pick Up and Drop Off" isn't just with the Trolley Tours ..., depending on the season, the Carriage Horse Tour Companies will also come to the door of the Cottage &/or Manor (eg: Taylor Estate)! Driving and finding parking on River Street for waterfront events can be difficult at times. We recommend if you choose to drive, that you drive several blocks and then just park in one of the city garages near River Street. But...alot of times it's best to do as the young'uns" in your group did....just walk it! Strolling to the River through the famous Savannah Squares with their moss-laden old spanish oaks is a treat! The River is only 7/10ths of a mile. But you do get tempted by all the little shops and restaurants along the way :). Another suggestion we give our older Guests is to call for a pedicab. They'll take you from point A to point B for tips!...inexpensive & FUN. :) Those who miss out on Bonaventure Cemetery (which is truly beautiful) can also stroll 15 minutes from the Estate to the original cemetery of the Georgia colony...aptly named, Colonial Cemetery. (General Sherman stored his horses in it during the Civil War occupation of Savannah). We love sharing our hospitality with our Guests and we aren't called the City of Hospitality for nothing...as your group experienced! Taylor Estate is located on one of the friendliest streets in all of downtown. Our neighbors are fantastic... and we're pretty nice too (we live next door!) :) We loved your comment we exemplify..."location, location, location!!!"

It was a pleasure meeting Suzanne and her family. This was our second time to Savannah and hoping we will have many more trips to this beautiful city. Your home is absolutely beautiful and inviting and was enjoyed by All! If we ever need a place to stay in Savannah, we will return here in a heartbeat! <3 Thank you for making your home so lovely and enjoyable for all. Many many thanks!

    Owner Response:

And we would love to have you! We are always delighted when Guests return to us again and again! We have had some come back to enjoy the Cottage for their anniversary after their wedding party originally stayed in the entire Estate! Other times, we've had graduating College Seniors from the same family have their friends/family stay for all the various ceremonies at the Estate! One of my best "hoped for returns" is with the young couple whose husband proposed to his wife inside the Manor during a reunion of his family for his graduation from AASU!

Terrific accomodations and location We spent Thanksgiving week at this well-appointed and comfortable rental. Both the manor and the carriage house were well-equipped, including cribs, the usual electronics, gobbles of kitchen equipment and more. I think we were 14 and a dog, but would have been comfortable with two more. It was great to have a playground across the street (ballfields as well, but we didn't use them) and historic Savannah at our doorstep. Easy walking to a commercial area, and through beautiful squares! Groceries require a car, but it is not far and the store is a good one. The property description is accurate, everything was in working order, and we enjoyed every minute of our week off!

Our 22nd year Turner Girls Female Family Reunion - Our youngest is 56 and the oldest 84. We loved the house and the Carriage House, or Cottage as you call it. The older Aunts stayed in the C house and the young ones took over the Manor - worked well for all of us. Your home made our visit to Savannah a Wonderful Time! We are nicknaming our trip the Gravy, Grits and Ghost Tour!!!

"The perfect place!" My son is a us army Ranger stationed in Savannah Georgia, and met his beautiful bride there. When nuptials ensued, a large part of our extended family wanted to attend the blessed event. We have been cast apart over time, and decided to use the event to get together and spend some time with each other. The Taylor Estate fit the bill to a tee! Everyone, from my 10 year old nephew to my 85 year old father in law, had a great time, and had all their needs met. The Estate gave everyone the privacy they needed, but allowed us to spend great time together. it was extremely comfortable, tastefully furnished, and had a great location that allowed us to explore Savannah and environs. Initial supplies, with obligatory coffee, got us started, and local markets were identified and close, allowing us to feed the contingents. Restaurants in the locale were plentiful and great. My duties with my job(s) required internet access, which was supplied, high speed, and without "drops". Multiple people showering at once posed no problems with hot water or pressure, and having a washer and dryer available helped with limiting our baggage for the vacation. It was hot and humid when we arrived (go figure!), but the air conditioning turned the house into an oasis of coolness, with the weather rapidly turning to out favor. The book of "instructions" told us all we needed to know about the house, and gave us a lot of insights that allowed us to maximize our adventures throughout Savannah. Even parking for our 4 cars, normally a nightmare in a crowded urban environment, was easily handled with off-street parking. I would highly recommend the Taylor Estate to anyone who has a few days to kick back and enjoy the splendor of Savannah!

    Response - Oct 14, 2011

I love getting groups that are a blend of ages...those with both young children and even babies up thru Seniors! That's where the Estate shines! Between the Nintendo and board games/kid-friendly videos and books to keep the younger ones entertained to the discrete handicap-accessible Cottage with its Senior-friendly yet elegant grab bars and walk in shower & first floor bedroom....it's geared to meet the needs of everyone in your group. Plus, the ability to be "right next door" yet still able to "get away to be esconsed in your their own quiet privacy" has been the favorite comment I hear from the grandparents within family reunion groups ;)....so to hear you reinforce all this....PRICELESS! :)

We had a fantastic stay here in Savannah mostly due to your hospitality of providing our "home" away from home. It was very relaxing to return to after our very busy days on-the-go. We all had a very enjoyable time This is my 3rd trip here to Savannah with this one having the best accommodations by far. We want to thank you for being a part of our troop's memories! Sandi -Troop Leader Additional Comments( from the girls themselves): This house is beautiful! I love everything about it! Savannah is just a beautiful city to live in/visit in. This is my 2nd trip here to Savannah and this house is wonderful, just like this wonderful city! Stay Golden, Alicia. Well I'll start off saying your house is absolutely beautiful. You are a fantastic interior decorator :). I love the set up of the house. All us 5 teenagers stayed in the attic. It was fun to have privacy which we wouldn't have as much in a hotel. Your kitchen is AMAZING!!! Very roomy and I felt very at home here! Me and my Mom pretty much think this is our dream house. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! It made our stay in Savannah that much better! Sincerely, Jamie Just wanted to let you know what wonderful time I had in Savannah with my daughter. We loved your home!! I would love to come back with some of my family and stay for a week. Thanks! Jamie's Mom, Dee. I really enjoyed staying in this house. This is a beautiful house and makes me feel at home. I loved how the floors were set up. All the girls got to sleep together in the same room. The beds (well at least mine) were SO comfortable! I loved staying here. Thank you for sharing your house with us! Thanks again, Allie

I was recently in Savannah on one of our annual "girls" trips. There were nine of us, and we had the main house as well as the carriage house. It was perfect. We were all very comfortable. We actually cooked in most nights and the kitchens were very well stocked and ready to use. It is a great location, we walked to most places. It was clean and quiet. These pictures don't lie.

"Awesome Girl Scout Trip to Savannah" Our experience with the Taylor Estate was perfect from beginning to end! Our Girl Scout troop of 9 girls and 6 adults stayed in both manors for 3 nights and 4 days at the end of March 2011. The girls made a decision early in the planning process that they wanted to stay at a house in the historic district that everyone could stay together and would be close enough that we could walk to everything. This house was a perfect fit! The rooms were are very clean and decorated very tastefully. The girls loved the old fashioned bathtub on the 2nd floor and the favorite was the 3rd floor "attic" bedroom where we would all gather at the end of the day to wind-down and talk about our favorite part of each day. One night the girls even decided that instead of going on the planned Ghost Tour that they would rather "stay-in" and we ordered pizza, watched a movie together in the living room and the girls went up to the attic room and made up a skit and then came downstairs to the kitchen to perform it for the parents. All in all it was a great experience and I know our girls (and moms) will never forget our trip to Savannah or the memories made at the Taylor Estate!

5 couples in our family met in Savannah for Super Bowl weekend. The brothers, cousins, and wives had a wonderful time in your home. Taylor Estate is located close to the city's attractions we wanted to see. We ate out (thanks for the recommendations); we cooked in (great kitchen). We enjoyed having a place large enough to accommodate us all!

My Girl Scout Troop came to Savannah and the Taylor Estate was PERFECT for the 18 of us. The creature comforts of the dishwasher, washing machine and dryer made life easy on a day to day basis. And Suzanne was so helpful anytime we called. I would and have already recommended the Taylor Estate to anyone visiting Savannah. Close to everything and our group felt right at home. Thank you Suzanne! The Taylor Estate was the icing on the cake for our trip!

Thanks to Suzanne for a wonderful stay at the Taylor Estate!! I am part of a motor yacht crew, and all 11 of us really enjoyed our short but lovely stay on Taylor Street! The location was perfect, we could walk to everything downtown, the house was ammaculate and clean, and it had a very warm and hospitable feeling. We only wish we could have stayed longer! You've got the southern hospitality thing perfected! What a great time we had. The Carriage House is terrific - a marvelous getaway! The Manor is beautifully restored, furnished and we found it convenient to everything. A favorite memory will be our evening walks along beautiful Savannah's historic streets. Amazing Stay in Savannah D12 St Louis MO Review Submitted: July 2009 Date of Stay: June 10, 2009 As we planned our stay in Savannah we looked into several options for lodging. With a large group (14) we wanted to all stay together. The house and cottage where just what we where looking for. It went beyond our expections. Being in a restored old home in Savannah made our stay even more memorable. I would recomend this house to anyone who is planning on visiting Savannah. Thank you for making our stay in Savannah great.

Wonderful Place to Stay in Savannah If you want the total Savannah experience you cannot do better that staying with Suzanne in her lovely home! My extended family came down to Savannah to attend a graduation ceremony. The entire estate was available and was extremely comfortable for our large group. For a couple or small family the tastefully decorated cottage is a great getaway or place for a romantic weekend. Suzanne is close by in their own home if needs arise, but the house is separate for the guests privacy. The house is several blocks from the river front, but it is on a quiet street with plenty of free parking which is a bonus in Savannah. Arrangements were easily made and the house was more than expected. I recommend it highly.

We rented the Taylor Estate for a combined bachelor/bachelorette party. There were 12 of us, and we had plenty of room! The house was beautiful - every room is like a dream! I couldn't believe it when we got there - it was even better than I had imagined. We had a fabulous weekend - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We enjoyed a night in the house playing board games, and a night on the town at City Market. We are definitely planning a trip back, and we will stay at Taylor Estate everytime we're in Savannah.
